Narendra Modi launched “Kisan Suvidha.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a mobile application for farmers – “Kisan Suvidha.”


The “Kisan Suvidha" will provide information to farmers on subjects such as weather, market prices, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and agriculture machinery.

UJALA- Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All

Union Minister for Power, Coal and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal today announced the name ‘UJALA’ for the LED based Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme, which is currently running successfully in over 120 cities across India.



UJALA, an acronym for Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All, is being implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). 

India to supply new diesel electric locomotives to Myanmar


India is planning to supply 18 metre gauge diesel electric locomotives to Myanmar. It will help to meet increasing demand for passenger and freight traffic. The supply contract of locomotives is a vital project being funded under an existing line of credit extended to Myanmar by the Indian government.


"RITES is making all efforts to augment export of rolling stock manufactured at railway production units. Response from Southeast Asian markets is very encouraging," said Rajeev Mehrotra, chairman and MD, RITES.

Crompton Greaves share raised

Crompton Greaves said that it will sell its transmission and distribution business outside India to a US private equity fund. 



Meanwhile, the shares of Crompton Greaves raised nearly 9%.  The stock after a positive opening further jumped 8.7% to Rs 151.80 on BSE. On NSE, it rose sharply by 8.89% to Rs 151.85.

Will RBI cut Base points?

RBI, Reserve Bank of India is expected to go for a 25 basis points rate cut on or before its scheduled policy.



"RBI needed to inject about $30 billion in FY17 to fund 5.5 per cent growth ," BofA-ML said in a research report adding that "on balance, we expect Governor Rajan to cut rates by 25 bps by April 5".

Re-categorisation of industries

The re-categorisation exercise was carried out over the last one year. This is a landmark decision to give a fair picture of the industries.


Re-categorisation of industries based on their pollution load is a scientific exercise. The old system of categorisation was creating problems for many industries and was not reflecting the level of pollution caused by these. The new categories will remove this lacuna, Javadekar said.


Google to provide Internet in Rural Areas

Google, the world’s largest search engine last year reorganised itself as Alphabet and it is currently in talks with a number of local telecom operators to kickstart its ambitious Google Loon project. Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai managed to secure support for the project from the government.
