Indian-Oman Stamp

A new stamp has been released highlighting the Indian-Oman diplomatic relationships over 60 years. The stamp issued in the presence of officials from Oman Post and the Indian Embassy. The stamp, now available at the Oman Post’s main branch in Ruwi, commemorates the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations.

UJALA- Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All

Union Minister for Power, Coal and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal today announced the name ‘UJALA’ for the LED based Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme, which is currently running successfully in over 120 cities across India.



UJALA, an acronym for Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All, is being implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). 

India to supply new diesel electric locomotives to Myanmar


India is planning to supply 18 metre gauge diesel electric locomotives to Myanmar. It will help to meet increasing demand for passenger and freight traffic. The supply contract of locomotives is a vital project being funded under an existing line of credit extended to Myanmar by the Indian government.


"RITES is making all efforts to augment export of rolling stock manufactured at railway production units. Response from Southeast Asian markets is very encouraging," said Rajeev Mehrotra, chairman and MD, RITES.

Crompton Greaves share raised

Crompton Greaves said that it will sell its transmission and distribution business outside India to a US private equity fund. 



Meanwhile, the shares of Crompton Greaves raised nearly 9%.  The stock after a positive opening further jumped 8.7% to Rs 151.80 on BSE. On NSE, it rose sharply by 8.89% to Rs 151.85.

Will RBI cut Base points?

RBI, Reserve Bank of India is expected to go for a 25 basis points rate cut on or before its scheduled policy.



"RBI needed to inject about $30 billion in FY17 to fund 5.5 per cent growth ," BofA-ML said in a research report adding that "on balance, we expect Governor Rajan to cut rates by 25 bps by April 5".

Low Inflation Rate

Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian has said there is room for rate cut by the Reserve Bank as inflation is low.


The policy rate was reduced substantially in 2015 with no less than four rate cuts cumulating to 1.25 per cent, including a 0.5 per cent cut at the October meeting.

Will RBI lend more funds to road projects?

The Indian government is likely to ask RBI – The Reserve Bank of India to provide more funds for road projects that are facing cost overruns due to delays, a move aimed at reviving languishing projects worth over Rs 30,000 crore. 



Banks are currently allowed to fund cost overruns up to 10% of the original total project cost.

Maruti Suzuki remains the top

Maruti Suzuki India, the leading automobile manufacturer maintained its leadership position in the domestic passenger vehicle market.



French carmaker Renault's entry level car Kwid also made it to the list last month.

According to the latest data from the SIAM-Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Maruti's Alto retained the top position in the top 10 best passenger vehicles

The company's compact hatchback Wagon R was the second best-selling model with 14,645 units compared with 12,329 units in the same month last year.
